LGBTQIA+ Peer Support Group

AV are excited to announce that we have secured funding via a grant to establish an LGBTQIA+ Peer Support Group. This group will be a regular peer support group available to AV members as well as non-members within our community who identify both as being a peer of the Aspergers autistic community as well as being LGBTQIA+.

As with all peer support groups, this group and the co-design committee will only be open to peers of both groups. We invite parents, carers, support workers, and allies to visit our Parents & Carers Group page.

We are seeking input from peers of both groups to help us make this group a reality.

Expression of Interest Eligibility

You must meet all of these criteria to be eligible to volunteer as a Group Team member or to join the co-design committee.

• You are Aspergers autistic or you have a similar neurodivergent profile.
• You are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
• You are aged 18 or older.

This Expression of Interest is open to AV members and non-members, however only current AV members will be able to join the co-design committee.

How can I be involved?

You will have the opportunity to tell us how you would like to be involved in this group. You can select as many of the below three options as you would like to.

• Join the co-design committee to share your views for the group setup, format, and activities / discussion topics (open to AV members aged 18+ only)
• Volunteer as the Group Leader or Group Assistant
• Receive updates about the group when it is established

What happens next?

This Expression of Interest will be open until Monday 15 August. After that date, the AV admin team will contact everyone who has expressed interest with more information about the next steps.
