Adults Group - Social Night (in-person)
Updated: 29 July 2021 - now taking place online via Zoom only
Due to the update in DHHS COVID restrictions for the Melbourne area announced in the leadup to this event, the Group Leaders and the AV team have moved the planned in-person meeting for this group to an online meeting via Zoom. This will take place at the usual group meeting time of 7.30pm.
We understand that many within our community are very keen to return to in-person meetings, and we'll do our best to make this happen as soon as DHHS COVID restrictions and planning time allow this. Registrations for the Zoom group meeting are now open via our website and our Group Leaders are looking forward to seeing you online.
Our Adults Group is for older members of the Aspergers autistic community and those with other similar neurodiverse profiles. It is more suitable for those who are aged 35 years and over, although younger adults are welcome to join in. (Young adults may prefer to attend our Young Adults group meetings as well as or instead of this group.)
This month, we are running our popular Social Night again on the fifth Thursday of the month. We are meeting at a pub in Hawthorn for dinner, drinks, and general socialising. You will receive the location details in your registration confirmation email. This will include public transport, parking and accessibility options, as well as the menu.
We will be meeting at the venue from 6pm to allow participants the opportunity to order a meal if they wish, however you can join the evening later if that suits you better.
This session is facilitated by the Group Leader, Colin: asadults@aspergersvic.org.au. All AV volunteer group leaders share the lived experience of their group participants and welcome new attendees. All AV group leaders have a Working with Children Check.
Cost: $5 for AV members, $10 for non-members.
Become an AV member today to access discounted tickets for groups and events, other members-only programs, and to support all the wonderful work our volunteers and staff team do for our community.
If you are attending an AV group for the first time, you are welcome to register for free using our first-time attendee ticket. Please email admin@aspergersvic.org.au to access this.
If cost is a barrier, please contact Carla: gm@aspergersvic.org.au.
Do I need to register?
All attendees to AV's online and in-person groups and events must register before attending. For Zoom meetings, you need to register to access the Zoom details. For in-person meetings, registration is required due to DHHS COVID contact tracing and venue capacity limits.
What can I expect when I attend an AV COVIDSafe event?
AV is closely following DHHS COVID-19 requirements and our in-person events have changed to comply with these. We encourage you to read our Aspergers Victoria COVID Safe Plan before you attend in-person events at AV in 2021. This includes important information about our QR code check-in system and what you need to bring with you to an event. As the venue capacity is reduced and spaces are limited, please register if you would like to attend to ensure you don't miss out.
As this meeting is being held at a hospitality venue, participants will have the opportunity to purchase dinner, snacks, and / or drinks if they wish.
Please note that DHHS advice may change and we will do our best to communicate any changes in AV COVID-19 policy to our community.
If you have questions about the event, about AV, or need assistance with registering, please email Jenni: admin@aspergersvic.org.au.
