Adults Hub: Online / Phone Peer Meeting Discussion - Topic: "NDIS - Introduction"

Due to the changing conditions with COVID-19, we had to move to an online meeting via a web-based application called Zoom. See below for more about what Zoom is.

This meeting will be an information session about NDIS. We will be joined by Pamela Gatos, who has a role in Lead, Community Support & NDIS Community Engagement with Amaze. There will be a presentation about how NDIS works, how to apply and more. After the presentation there will be an opportunity to ask her your own questions.

Pamela has worked with Amaze for 5 years, and has over 20 years of experience in local government disability planning, mental health and training.

During her time with Amaze she developed NDIS readiness workshops, which have rolled out across all of Melbourne and regional Victoria, and developed the Amaze NDIS Readiness Resource (available from Amaze website).

Originally her role was funded by the NDIA to support the NDIS transition for peer support groups, so she has travelled a lot across Melbourne and regional Victoria following the roll out of the NDIS, and worked a lot with local groups to skill them up in NDIS language and criteria.

Currently, her role is funded via Amaze’s tax appeal and she continues to work with peer support groups to raise their profile, develop their capacity and support them, and has worked closely with the Amaze staff to skill them in the NDIS language.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Disability Studies and Psychology.

This group is for our older Adult peer group attendees.  It is more suitable for those who are aged 35 years and over, although younger adults may still attend if they wish to.  (Young adults may prefer to attend the other younger adult meetings: see our event list).

Cost:  FREE this month again, courtesy of DHHS covid grant, but bookings still required. Please book online before attending, You will receive the link to join the meeting once booking is completed in an "Event Registration Confirmed" email containing this link.
