Adults & Young Adults Social Outing:

"Royal Botanic Gardens:  Melbourne Observatory Tour"

• AS Adults and Young Adults are invited to a night Tour of the Melbourne Observatory, hosted by the coordinator of the AS Adult Group, Colin.  Meet at the Visitors' Centre (see below under 'getting there').

  Discover the fascinating history of Melbourne Observatory, built in the early 1860s as Melbourne’s home of weather forecasting, time keeping and star charting. Gain a backstage view of the Observatory and see the amazing night sky brought into focus with our powerful heritage telescopes! If the sky is clear, you will be able to view Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon and other objects through the telescopes during the evening. Note that the Tour goes ahead regardless of the weather but if it is cloudy, then you will not get to see the planets and other celestial objects. Further details of the Tour can be obtained from the Royal Botanic Gardens website 

  Cost: $25.00 per person (payable on booking). Group will be restricted to 12 participants maximum, so please register and pay promptly so you don’t miss out! Email Emma at admin@aspergersvic.org.au if you need assistance to do this.

• This program is not suitable for children under the age of 8 years. Children 8 years and above must be accompanied by an adult.
• This tour includes entry into confined spaces and climbing stairs, therefore requires a moderate level of physical fitness and mobility.
• This is an indoor and outdoor activity. Please wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions, and appropriate footwear.

Getting There:  Meet outside the Visitor Centre, Royal Botanic Gardens, Birdwood Avenue, South Yarra (Melways ref: Map 2G: A12).  If driving:  Plenty of parking is available in Birdwood Avenue.  By Public transport:  please check the PTV app or make inquiries to confirm the best route depending on your starting point. Suggest taking the tram along St. Kilda Road.
