Southern Evening Parents & Carers Peer Group
Guest Speaker: Heidi Gaspar: Reducing stress & auditory sensitivity (Safe and Sound Protocol)
For our final meeting of the year we have secured a guest speaker: Heidi Gaspar, who will be coming to speak with us. Heidi's talk will focus on the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), which is a five-day auditory intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience.
About Heidi Gaspar: Heidi has over 10 years of experience in both public and private practice, as well as primary and secondary schools working with students, teachers and families. She runs a program with families to help them find digital harmony at home, empowering and supporting parents to create and maintain fair and consistent boundaries. She is also passionate about helping people with anxiety and gut related issues. Heidi has practiced yoga and meditation for over 20 years, paints, dances, runs and enjoys travelling the world with her husband and two young boys.
This is a new evening group extension of our daytime group, to cater for daytime working parents, grandparents and carers (of a person with Aspergers or High Functioning Autism / ASD 1-2) to meet, share their experiences and support eachother. We are now meeting at a new venue: Hampton Community Centre.
Reducing stress and auditory sensitivity, while enhancing social engagement & resilience.
Cost: $5 AV Members, or $10 for Non-Members. Please pay on registration as payment on the night puts unnecessary stress and overhead on our volunteers.
We have a range of parents who attend, who have children of varying ages from toddlers through to young adults. The group is structured/facilitated to allow opportunity for all attendees to talk if they wish. Attendance varies from month to month and it's great to talk to others who have been through similar challenges.
Getting There: Enter via the front door. By car: There is parking in the car park at the back of the community centre as well as in surrounding streets. By Public Transport: Hampton Station is very close and there is also a bus service.
