Southern Parents & Carers Support Group

Updated 17 August: Meeting Cancelled

Due to the update in DHHS COVID restrictions for the Melbourne area announced in the leadup to this event, this meeting has been cancelled. We hope to have more information available for you soon.

We understand that many within our community are very keen to return to in-person meetings, and we'll do our best to make this happen as soon as DHHS COVID restrictions and planning time allow this.

About the Group

Our Southern Parents & Carers group is an in-person peer support meeting open to all parents & carers of Aspergers / autistic children, teens or adults. We are returning to in-person meetings for the first time since February 2020, and while things have changed a little due to COVIDSafe requirements, we will do our best to make the transition as smooth as possible for our community.

This session will be facilitated by the Group Leader, Natalie:

southern@aspergersvic.org.au

All AV volunteer group leaders share the lived experience of their group participants and welcome new attendees. All AV group leaders have a Working with Children Check.

We also have two other Parents & Carers groups.

Our North-East group meets monthly in the Eltham area: northeastparents@aspergersvic.org.au

Our Online group meets monthly via Zoom: adultparentsupport@aspergersvic.org.au

Cost: $10 for AV members, $15 for non-members.

Become an AV member today to access discounted tickets for groups and events, other members-only programs, and to support all the wonderful work our volunteers and staff team do for our community.

If you are attending an AV group for the first time, you are welcome to register for free using our first-time attendee ticket. Please email admin@aspergersvic.org.au to access this.

If cost is a barrier, please contact Carla: gm@aspergersvic.org.au

Do I need to register?

All attendees to AV's online and in-person groups and events must register before attending. For Zoom meetings, you need to register to access the Zoom details. For in-person meetings, registration is required due to DHS COVID contact tracing requirements and venue capacity limits. When your registration is complete, you will receive a QR code that you will need to bring with you on the day on your phone or as a printout to access the meeting.

What can I expect when I attend an AV COVIDSafe event?
AV is closely following DHHS COVID-19 requirements and our in-person events have changed to comply with these. We encourage you to read our AV COVIDSafe Plan before you attend in-person events at AV in 2021. This includes important information about our QR code check-in system and what you need to bring with you to an event. As the venue capacity is reduced and spaces are limited, please register if you would like to attend to ensure you don't miss out.

Due to current DHHS restrictions, refreshments will not be provided at this event. You are most welcome to bring your own snack and drink to enjoy, however please be aware that these are not able to be shared.

Please note that DHHS advice may change and we will do our best to communicate any changes in AV COVID-19 policy to our community.

If you have questions about the event, our COVIDSafe policy, or need assistance with registration, please contact our admin team: admin@aspergersvic.org.au
