AsperTeens South East Social Group

 Creating empowered Aspergers Teens

Join our AsperTeens group, for secondary students aged 13 to 18 years, with events held in South Eastern Melbourne. Teens can catch-up with like-minded peers in a relaxed, supported social environment, while parents and carers share their lived experience at the same venue.

The Teens activities include a mix of dinner nights, bowling, Laser Tag and other activities the Teens nominate. Our AsperTeens are encouraged to share strengths, passions or interests and chat, facilitated by our young adult peer leaders. This is the ideal time to relax and enjoy the company of their peers in a normal, non-therapy environment, but while building their social connections, confidence and capabilities.

Our AsperTeen parents also have a welcome chance to catch up about their shared experience in a separate area, sometimes with a specialist speaker. Parents also stay to support their teen, should they become overwhelmed.

This is a fun, social event where teens can just be themselves and build their independence in a safe and peer-supported environment. It is wonderful to see our teens flourish.

This group meets on the FOURTH Friday of the month - usually around Chadstone, Glen Waverley. Aspergers Victoria volunteers with lived experience run all meetings and will welcome new families. All group leaders have a Working With Children Check.

Group numbers are limited, so book your place early to avoid disappointment. This group is for Aspergers Victoria members only, however you are very welcome to attend a meeting before joining.

For more information about this group please contact teens@aspergersvic.org.au. If you are interested in starting a similar group in your area or can help run a group please contact us.

Please Note:

  • One parent or carer (18+) MUST accompany their children, and the responsibility for supervision and costs of ALL children remains with the parents.
  • Our leaders are all volunteers and we expect them to be treated with respect and ALL attendees must follow our Peer Groups the AV Way (pdf) or they will be asked to leave the group.
  • Our not-for-profit organization is dedicated to empowering our community and welcomes your time and support if you can volunteer in any way.

Please join to support our not-for-profit organization:  you can do it online at www.aspergersvic.org.au/membership and your membership details will be sent to you.
