Aspergers Victoria Peer Support & Social Groups

‘Promoting the positives of Aspergers across the lifespan’

If you, a partner or a family member has Aspergers, then our peer support groups may suit your needs. Meet others, share stories or listen to the occasional speaker in a friendly and inclusive environment. Aspergers Victoria volunteers with lived experience run all meetings and will welcome new attendees.

Aspergers Victoria Groups Value:

  • A Positive Mindset: We see possibilities, strengths and talents; not problems or deficits
  • A Growth Mindset: We pursue goals through continual learning from each other equally and share that knowledge; we don’t judge ourselves or others
  • Empowerment: We listen, support and encourage others to grow
  • Empathy: We try to understand another’s situation and help, if asked
  • Trust: We value the privacy and confidentiality of others in and out of the group
  • Respect: We acknowledge the wishes and rights of others and believe we are responsible for our own behaviour

*Please note these groups are for Aspergers Victoria members only, however you are very welcome to attend a meeting before joining.

Join online here www.aspergersvic.org.au/membership and membership details will be forwarded to you.

Aspergers Victoria is a registered health promotion charity run by volunteers. Our mission is to make a difference to the lives of individuals and families with Aspergers, by providing support, knowledge and skills development, to enhance lives and influence community views.

Peer groups are often the first port of call for new members - a place where you can meet others, listen, learn and share stories about your journey with Aspergers, amongst others who understand. Volunteers with lived experience run all groups. The philosophy of AV peer support groups is to provide a friendly, supportive environment, where everyone can share their life experiences, challenges and insights. The group meetings are a significant part of what we do - you're sure to find a group here that matches your situation, and meets your needs.

The peer support groups are free to members.  You are welcome to attend a meeting before joining Aspergers Victoria.  Group meetings are scheduled before the beginning of the year, and are almost never cancelled.  In the very rare situation that a meeting has to be cancelled, a notice will be posted here on the Aspergers Victoria website.

Peer support group meetings are conducted for the purpose of providing connection, information and support to our members. Agendas, activities and guest speakers are often extensively planned well in advance. Any promotion of members’ ventures and other (non AV) items of interest are to be conducted via the Groups Coordinator or the Group Leader. If you wish to make announcements or distribute materials at our meetings, please email your request to the Groups Coordinator groups@aspergersvic.org.au

Note: AV has become aware of groups using the AV logo or name to promote their services or groups without AV approval. AV cannot provide any assurance of the quality of any group not coordinated by AV and not listed in the links below. They will not be covered by our insurance or necessarily deliver quality support to AV standards.

Please email us if you have any questions about peer groups by using the link for Aspergers Help Enquiries via the Contact Us page.
